Colour Theory Essentials: April 25 - 26 2024

2 day course: 10am - 4pm

All of the need-to-know theory, without any of the dullness - this 2 day course on colour theory has been designed to give artists of all abilities, a deep dive and exploration into Colour Theory in a practical way.

Over the 2 days, Peter will discuss and demonstrate the two most important elements artists need to consider when attempting to mix accurate colours, referencing how famous artists of the past and present have used colour theory to enhance their work.

You will learn all about the importance of the colour wheel, how it works and how you can utilise it straight away to support your next piece of work.

You will also explore about colour saturation, natural colours and colour harmonies.

This course provides plenty of 1-1 instruction from Peter, as well as informal group critiques and discussions. There will also be individual and group activities of a practical, painting nature. All of which will help to increase your knowledge and enjoyment of painting and art.

Artist quality Michael Harding oil paints are provided for you to work with during this course, as well as all other materials. You only need to bring brushes!

This course is suitable for painters of all painting mediums including oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour.

What to bring:

• A selection of suitable paint brushes for colour mixing.

This course will take place at Hogshaw Farm in North Buckinghamshire, in the Eco Centre, above their farm shop and cafe. You will be able to access the cafe during the breaks or you can bring your own food and refreshments.
